This shows us that society is not always what is about, In dating, and love in general, your heart tells you what is right. The message for the Princess Diaries 2 is that even though you were given a task to do from a higher authority you still have the power over you. They are similar because it's still a girl in a situation of a obligation, that she can't get her self out of.

Act 1, Sc. 2, Lines 130-131
4) "Why came I hither but to that intent?
Think you a little din can daunt mine ears?
Have I not in my time heard Lions roar?
Have I not heard the sea, puffed up with winds,
Rage like an angry boar, chafèd with sweat?
Have I not heard great ordnance in the field
And heaven's arrtilery thunder in the skies?
Have I not in pitchèd battle heard
Loud 'larums, neighing steeds, and trumpets clang?
And do you tell me of a woman's tongue,
That gives not half so great a blow to hear
As will a chesnut in a farmer's fire

Anyone Can Read Your Desires, But No One Can Read Your Heart. - Princess Mia Renaldi,

Act 2, Sc. 1, Lines 361-365

Lucentio.son unto Vincentio of Pisa,
.diguised thus to get your love.
.and that "Lucentio" that comes a-wooing,

(Image 2) Mia meets up at the fountain with Nicholas, and he starts to charm her, follow her, and then they soon fall into the fountain. In today's society, towards this is that dating can be a challenge even a fight rather, but you you have to go through the good to get to the bad.
